Free and low-cost programming for seniors, youth, and adults — hosted at our Empowerment Center at 230 James St., Utica. There’s a place for everyone here.

Named in honor of a pillar of our community, the Bessie Hicks program supports the health, wellness, and connection of Black women in Cornhill and the greater Utica area. For years, our Bessie Hicks members have shown up — through five locations and every challenge in between — because what we build together is worth showing up for.

Join Us

Every Saturday morning, young people ages 8–18 gather at our Empowerment Center for a warm breakfast and hands-on lessons in home economics and life skills. Students prepare and share a hot meal with community elders — building skills and bridges between generations at the same table.
